SUBSCRIPTION DRIVE – A FEW MORE DAYS LEFT!

This is the most important subscription drive in Urgent Agenda's history.  We have been publishing for almost 15 years.  We have the most loyal readership imaginable.  We survive largely because of our readership's support.

This is a critical election year, and the period after the election will be even more critical.  Our country is in peril.  We believe we perform a useful service in keeping readers informed about the trends we see and can identify.  We are not a newspaper.  We're more of an experienced observer.  We publish seven days a week, 365 days a year.

If you like what you see, please subscribe or donate.   The ways to do either are given in the right hand column of this page under SUBSCRIPTIONS – directly opposite these words.  If you prefer to use regular mail, just email me at service@urgentagenda.com, and I'll give you instructions.

We don't have gimmicks or prizes.  We do have a Forum that's published frequently, giving subscribers and donators the chance to write on anything they wish at any reasonable length.

I look forward to welcoming you aboard.

UKRAINE IS BURNING AGAIN.  The Russians are targeting civilians throughout Ukraine.   From the Washington Post:

In little more than a month, the war in Ukraine has turned abruptly from a grueling, largely static artillery battle expected to last into the winter, to a rapidly escalating, multilevel conflict that has challenged the strategies of the United States, Ukraine and Russia.

Russia’s launch of massive strikes on civilian infrastructure Monday in about a dozen Ukrainian cities far from the front lines brought shock and outrage. The strikes, which Secretary of State Antony Blinken described as “wave after wave of missiles,” struck “children’s playgrounds and public parks,” left at least 14 killed and nearly 100 wounded, and cut electricity and water in much of the country.

“By launching missile attacks on civilians sleeping in their homes or rushing toward children going to schools, Russia has proven once again that it is a terrorist state that must be deterred in the strongest possible ways,” Ukraine’s United Nations Ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya said at the opening of a General Assembly session scheduled before the assault to promote world condemnation of Moscow.

The attacks were the latest of many head-spinning events — from Ukrainian victories on the ground to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s threat of nuclear weapons use — that have changed the nature and tempo of the war in recent weeks, and raised questions about whether the United States and its partners may have to move beyond the concept of helping Ukraine defend itself, and instead more forcefully facilitate a Ukrainian victory.

COMMENT:  Isn't it remarkable that foreign policy is playing no role in our current political campaigns.  Amazing.  At one time, when our national discussions were more mature, foreign and defense policy was at the top of the agenda.  The experience of World War II assured that.

We still do not have a coherent Ukraine policy.  The American people seem to have lost much of their early interest in the conflict.  It's a big mistake.  The war in Ukraine is the largest ground war in Europe since 1945.  It is our business, whether we want it to be or not.

IS THIS MIRACLE POSSIBLE?  IN THE STATE OF WASHINGTON? WHERE LENIN IS CONSIDERED A CONSERVATIVE?  From Fox:

Every two years there seems to be a competitive race for U.S. Senate that emerges out of nowhere, one that wasn’t on anyone’s radar screen when the election cycle began.

This year’s sleeper campaign in Washington state between far-left Democrat Sen. Patty Murray, a five-term career Washington, D.C., politician, and first-time candidate Republican Tiffany Smiley is it.

Recent polling shows the decades-long liberal incumbent Murray polling below 50% despite her high name recognition against Smiley, who until recently was seen as a little known citizen-politician. Shockingly, the ballot test in two of these polls had Murray’s lead shrinking to just two and three points, respectively.

These results have Washington, D.C., buzzing with intrigue about what might be happening on the ground in the reliably Democrat stronghold of Washington in the Pacific Northwest.

To make matters worse for Murray, everyone agrees that Washington state had been turning a deeper shade of blue with each passing year. For example, Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump by a whopping 58% to 39% margin in the 2020 presidential election and Murray prevailed in her last re-election with a very comfortable 59% of the vote in 2016.

So Murray’s alarming slide in the polls could mean that Washington voters are finally poised to vote for a change in direction – and do so at the senior senator’s expense. Let’s face it, there are lots of reasons for Washingtonians to be sick and tired of what’s been happening right before their very eyes.

Over the past two years, America has watched in disbelief as the beautiful city of Seattle was overrun by rioting, violent crime, the defund police movement, and so-called "CHOP" zones. Sadly, 176 people have died of opioid overdoses in Seattle already this year. All the while, entrenched out-of-touch Democrats like Murray have joyfully plowed ahead with their failed socialist agenda in Washington, D.C.

COMMENT:  I'd love to see an upset in Washington.  If our side can flip that state, it would make everything else seem possible.  Imagine – a Republican mayor of Chicago.  Well,  maybe that's going too far.  We must restrain ourselves.

SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE:

UPPER CLASS NEWS:  FROM THE NEW YORK POST:   The controversial Marxist co-founder of Black Lives Matter recently completed tens of thousands of dollars in renovations at her posh Los Angeles home, including building a new plunge pool and backyard sauna, according to a new report.  Patrisse Cullors, 39, the former leader of Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, also added a children’s play area for her young son outside her 2,580-square foot three-bedroom, three-bathroom home in Los Angeles’s Topanga Canyon neighborhood, photos show.  The images reveal a deep plunge pool that has yet to have water added, as well as a small shed that houses the sauna. A child’s swing set and covered slide is also visible in the photograph.  Cullors, who resigned from the national group a month after The Post revealed that she had gone on a real estate buying spree last year, paid $1.4 million for the Topanga Canyon home in March 2021, according to public records.  These Marxists really have good taste in real estate, don't they?  I understand that Patrisse is even designing her own Revolution Room, where she can spend quiet hours contemplating the plight of the oppressed.  Now that's commitment!

THE NEW HISPANIC CONSERVATIVES:  This is one of the most important political developments in our modern history.  If the new wave continues, it could literally shape American politics.  From the Florida Capital Star:

This week in Miami, the top Hispanic conservative leaders in America will convene for the Hispanic Leadership Conference. Hispanic voters continue to move to the political right while a new cadre of dynamic, patriotic populist candidates act as an accelerant of this emerging phenomenon. Most of these office seekers are young and new to political office, and many are women. All of them form the vanguard of a new political trend that transforms American politics in lasting ways.

This conference will culminate with a keynote address from President Trump. His headliner participation recognizes the crucial role he has played in breaking down longstanding political assumptions among the so-called “experts” that Hispanics must vote for Democrats.

President Trump proved that Hispanics rally to a muscular vision of nationalist politics, not the watered-down, milquetoast “Democrat-lite” approach that establishment Republicans previously pursued with Hispanics. Instead, the America First movement combines cultural conservatism with economic populist nationalism to form an attractive and winning formula to earn Hispanic support.

The gains already achieved have been formidable. For example, much of the attention understandably focuses on South Texas, where the gritty Hispanic citizens of the Rio Grande Valley reject the radicalism of the Democrat Party, from runaway inflation to porous-border lawlessness. These “bad hombres” and proud Latinas also reject leftist cultural pollution such as gender confusion and the establishment’s abuse of young children with sexualized indoctrination.

Accordingly, the remarkable shifts toward Donald Trump along the border made electoral history. For example, in Zapata County, Trump rallied from a 33 percent loss in 2016 to a 5 percent victory in 2020, in a county that is 95 percent Hispanic.

Extending this trend into 2022, Congresswoman Mayra Flores won a special election in a district that has elected Democrats to the U.S. House since the Civil War. Flores joins two other conservative Latinas who won GOP primaries to run for the House from South Texas in November, Monica de la Cruz and Cassy Garcia.

But this growing trend extends nationwide, far beyond Texas.

For instance, Yesli Vega is running for Congress in a winnable Virginia district, and Catalina Lauf in Illinois’ 11th district. The conditions are ripe for the success of such candidates, as generic midterm congressional polling implodes for the Democrats. Their party enjoyed a massive plus-47 percent surplus among Hispanics in 2018. But recent New York Times polling now shows the D-vs.-R generic matchup at a scant Democrat plus-3 percent among Hispanics.

COMMENT:  This is good news, and it's based on solid research.  We'll see on election day, in four weeks, how effective this new Hispanic wave is in creating conservative victories.

"The left needs two things to survive. It needs mediocrity, and it needs dependence. It nurtures mediocrity in the public schools and the universities. It nurtures dependence through its empire of government programs. A nation that embraces mediocrity and dependence betrays itself, and can only fade away, wondering all the time what might have been."
