A NATION IN CHAOS – OVERNIGHT:  As we come out of the weekend and look forward to the start of summer, we are reminded each day of the job ahead, starting with the November election.  The forces of wokeness are still fighting, and they often are winning.  A school in Chicago (naturally) symbolizes the madness.  As they say, you cannot make this up.   From Breitbart:

A high school in a Chicago is implementing a race-based grading system “to adjust classroom grading scales to account for skin color or ethnicity of its students.”

The move is necessary, advocates say, because “traditional grading practices perpetuate inequities,” a slide used in a presentation said.

Students, depending on their race, will not be held accountable for missing class, misbehaving in school, or for failing to turn in assignments.

The West Cook News reported on the development:

Oak Park and River Forest High School (OPRF) administrators will require teachers next school year to adjust their classroom grading scales to account for the skin color or ethnicity of its students.

School board members discussed the plan called “Transformative Education Professional Development & Grading” at a meeting on May 26, presented by Assistant Superintendent for Student Learning Laurie Fiorenza.

[The plan] calls for what OPRF leaders describe as “competency-based grading, eliminating zeros from the grade book…encouraging and rewarding growth over time.”

Teachers are being instructed how to measure student  “growth” while keeping the school leaders’ political ideology in mind.

“Teachers and administrators at OPRFHS will continue the process necessary to make grading improvements that reflect our core beliefs,” the plan, set to begin in the fall of 2023, says.

The article notes that according to the Illinois State Board of Education, 38 percent of sophomores fail the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).

The failure rate was 77 percent for black students, 49 percent for Hispanic students, 27 percent for Asian students, and 25 percent for white students.

Margaret Sullivan, associate director at the Education Advisory Board, which consults colleges and universities, said teachers have to recognize when “personal biases manifest.”

“Teachers may unintentionally let non-academic factors—like student behavior or whether a student showed up to virtual class—interfere with their final evaluation of students,” Sullivan said.

COMMENT:  No one in a white sheet, and burning a cross, could do the harm to these children that their own educators are doing. This new program will destroy minority kids by eliminating any incentive to excel.  What happens when they try to get a job with the equivalent of eighth-grade skills?

This program is nothing more than the old racial excuse machineAnd you may be sure it has plenty of support on the political left and within the minority leadership class.

The modern civil rights movement started in the mid-1950s.  It is now more than 65 years later.  Who has actually gained from the movement other than those at the top?  Don't expect an answer from the mainstream media.

ON MEMORIALS – OVERNIGHT:  We have just observed Memorial Day.  And we are still mourning the loss of 21 innocents in a school shooting in Texas.  On top of that, consider this, from the New York Post:

More than 30 people lost their lives from gun violence around the country over a blood-spattered Memorial Day weekend — just days after the tragic school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.

Dozens of victims — including 13 in Philadelphia alone — lost their lives with violence spiraling across the nation.

The City of Brotherly Love was anything but over the holiday weekend, with the staggering body count including a father and his nine-year-old son, according to local reports.

Gerald Parks, 38, and his boy, Jamel, were sprayed with bullets and killed in their car after going to a cookout, CBS 3 reported.

In another incident early Monday, two women were killed and a 14-year-old child injured after a shooting at an outdoor hookah smoking party.

At least a dozen other Philadelphians were also wounded from gunfire, cops said.

Chicago saw at least six people killed over the weekend and another 34 injured.

In one incident, a 69-year-old man was killed by a suspect who later barricaded himself in an abandoned building during a 90-minute standoff with a Chicago SWAT team.

Maryland suffered at least four shooting deaths, including a 17-year-old boy and two men involved in a separate triple shooting in Baltimore.

The weekend mayhem was marked by several shootings that injured multiple people.

A gunman opened fire at a festival in Oklahoma Saturday night, killing one and injuring seven others. The suspect, Skyler Buckner, 26, later turned himself in.

In New York, two people were fatally shot in separate Brooklyn incidents over the weekend, according to cops.

There were also gunshot fatalities in cities including Tampa, Memphis, Fresno and Atlanta.

COMMENT:  And that is just from gunfire. How many others were killed by knives, hammers, fists, thrown objects?  And what are the backgrounds of the alleged perpetrators and their victims?

When there's a school shooting, as in Texas, It becomes a national event.  Most people are heartfelt in their grief.  But I get the feeling that some "public servants" are reading from a script.

We have the equivalent of several mass killings every weekend in this country, and we have become indifferent.  The story is far larger than "guns."  It's people, but the mass media doesn't want to get too far into "people and culture."  Someone might be offended.

"The left needs two things to survive. It needs mediocrity, and it needs dependence. It nurtures mediocrity in the public schools and the universities. It nurtures dependence through its empire of government programs. A nation that embraces mediocrity and dependence betrays itself, and can only fade away, wondering all the time what might have been."
