SUBSCRIPTION DRIVE
(Report: We had a good day, but the drive is still sluggish. Come on readers, give our second week a boost.)
This is our first subscription drive of 2022. It is crucial . Our work depends on our subscribers and donators. Without them, we're gone.
America is in the midst of a critical election year, possibly the most critical in the nation's recent history. Urgent Agenda will be there seven days a week, not only keeping you up to date, but selecting the articles and quotes that get to the heart of what you want to read, and must read.
As subscribers, you'll also receive our Forum, a weekly emailed page containing posts from you, our readers. It is great fun seeing your name in print, and having other readers answer you.
To subscribe, just go to the right-hand column of this page, under SUBSCRIPTIONS, directly opposite these words. There are several ways to subscribe. I personally recommend SENDINC, a reader favorite – safe, quick and efficient. But the others, like PayPal, are also fine. If you prefer to subscribe or donate by regular mail, just send me a note at service@urgentagenda.com, and I'll supply you with instructions.
We hope you join us.
MAY 13-14, 2022
IS THE PARTY OVER? MAYBE YES: Maybe it's time for the Democratic Party to pack it up and move to Iran. They'd love it. From the New York Post:
The vital mission of the Republican-Right in November 2022 and ’24 should be to demolish the Democratic Party and relegate it to the Smithsonian, amid the Whig and Know Nothing parties.
The Democratic Party of JFK, LBJ and even Bill “Welfare Reform” Clinton is long gone.
The Democratic Party of Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Gavin Newsom has nothing positive to offer and deserves to be voted overwhelmingly into oblivion.
The Democratic Left has become purveyors of poverty, chaos, danger and death.
• First-quarter GDP shrank 1.4% amid inflation, regulation, supply-chain snafus, barren store shelves, baby-formula rationing(!) and the Biden-Democrats’ anti-business bias.
Nominal wages advanced 5.5% year-on-year in April, but last month’s 8.3% inflation (a near 40-year-high) shriveled real wages to negative 2.8%.
Bloomberg reports that, compared to 2021, inflation will cost the average US household $5,200 this year, or $100 per week, for the same basket of goods. Biden’s five-steps-forward, eight-steps-back economy is making Americans poor again.
• The Biden-Democratic-Left has unleashed chaos at the US-Mexico “border,” which 2,499,190 illegal immigrants breached on Biden’s watch (from Feb. 1, 2021, through March 30, 2022), versus 666,756 during Trump’s final 14 months — up 375% — as he installed 458 miles of border wall.
Biden’s figure does not include an estimated 620,000 got-aways who invaded America without even greeting the Border Patrol. Also, 42 foreigners on the terrorist watch list tried to enter the United States during the Biden-Democratic Era, including 23 at the southern “border.”
• From classrooms to board rooms, Democrats are pushing Critical Race Theory, through which they harass whites as privileged oppressors and infantilize blacks as helpless victims. Everything — from troops in US barracks to erasable white boards in physics classes — is bigoted to today’s race-possessed Left.
• The Democratic Party endangers Americans through its policies and a recent embrace of Sandinista-flavored intimidation, thuggery and political violence. Democrats in 2020 defunded the police in numerous cities and states they control. When handcuffed cops somehow arrest career hoodlums, criminal-hugging district attorneys such as San Francisco’s Chesa Boudin, Manhattan’s Alvin Bragg, Los Angeles’ George Gascón and their ilk too often massage lawbreakers’ wrists or flat-out refuse to prosecute them.
Democrats also sacked cash bail. Criminals rejoiced. Jewayne Price was arrested last month for shooting nine people in a Columbia, SC, shopping mall. He was out on $25,000 bond in mere hours.
COMMENT: Wonderful, wonderful. Please read the whole thing. This country would be much better off if the Democratic Party passed into history and was replaced by a modern, center-left party, patriotic, and proud of America's great heritage. The party today has been taken over by the political fringe, which contributes nothing but noise and love of dictators.
Ronald Reagan, who began his career as a Democrat, said it best when he remarked that he didn't leave the Democratic Party, the party left him.
But first, our side must win a great victory in November.
I'M GLAD THIS IS HAPPENING – OVERNIGHT: Clearly, there is a major pushback against the woke society. Maybe it began with parents in Virginia, maybe somewhere else. But it takes things like this to give the movement its voice. From Fox:
Conservative figures including former Trump administration officials, current members of Congress, professors, and media personalities have signed onto a statement lamenting what they call "an age of increasing national self-doubt" in the U.S., blaming leftist ideologies for bringing down the "national mood" and vowing to "reclaim" a positive attitude about the U.S.
The statement, published by National Review, claims that "[t]he American project … is under assault" via historical revisionism, accusations of systemic racism in various American institutions, and "propagandizing" in the public school system.
"Our traditional values of fair play, free speech, and religious liberty are trampled by inflamed ideologues determined to impose their will by force and fear," the statement says, likening the current climate to those of the 1930s and 1970s, "when radical critiques of America got considerable traction and our national self-confidence often seemed to hang by a thread."
The signers include former Attorney General Bill Barr, former Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, former White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove, former U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey, current Reps. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, and Michael McCaul, R-Texas, Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, radio host Hugh Hewitt, National Review editor-in-chief Rich Lowry, and Commentary editor John Podhoretz. According to them, "[e]ven some on the right have become disenchanted with the American project," and that they are looking to "reclaim what once was a consensus view of America that has now become bitterly
contested."
That view is "that America is a fundamentally fair society with bountiful opportunity," that the country's founding "was a world-historical event of the utmost importance," and "that its original sins have been honorably, if belatedly, repudiated," despite claims on the left.
"To the extent that these notions are falling out of favor, it is the responsibility of those who love America to revivify them," the statement says.
The signers acknowledge in the statement that even they disagree amongst themselves about policies, but that ultimately they "are united as devotees of America."
COMMENT: A very good start. Of course, the political left will come out of the woodwork to disparage every word, and our guys have to be ready to counterpunch, with both facts and passion.
I believe the left is now losing. As usual, the leftists overstepped, their egos far ahead of their brains. If our side wins decisively in November, the woke era can start to fade away.
AS THE TRUTH COMES OUT – OVERNIGHT: Wasn't long ago when Black Lives Matter, the movement and not the phrase, was at the top of the new causes list, its leaders the toast of woke cocktail parties and invitation-only virtue sessions. But times have changed. Someone started asking questions. From Fox:
The Black Lives Matter movement started a massive wave of Americans uniting to call for defunding the police and eradicating white supremacy to make positive changes for Black Americans. But experts reflecting on the movement’s scorecard in 2022 say Black America hasn’t benefited.
"I would argue that, on balance, these communities are worse off because by [BLM] overemphasizing the role of police, they've changed police behavior for the worse," the Manhattan Institute’s Jason Riley told Fox News Digital in a phone interview. "In other words, police do become more cautious. They're less likely to get out of their cars and engage with people in the community. And to the extent that police are less proactive, the criminals have the run of the place."
Riley noted that "police brutality still exists, bad cops exist," and he has no "problem with raising awareness about police misconduct." But he argued that BLM is "over-focused" on police and does not take into account that "97, 98% [of Black homicides] do not involve police at all."
Dr. Carol Swain, a retired professor of political science and law at Vanderbilt University, told Fox News Digital that "an intelligent observer would be hard-pressed to identify any area in American society where BLM’s activism has benefited the Black community."
"What BLM has done is pervert the criminal justice system by engaging in activities that have resulted in a growing trend of trials by media," Swain said. "BLM has intimidated juries and judges. Its leaders have no interest in due process or the presumption of innocence."
Black Lives Matter began with the social media hashtag #BlackLivesMatter and was officially founded in 2013 after the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the fatal shooting case of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Chants of "Black Lives Matter" later rang out at protests following the police-involved killing of Michael Brown in Missouri in 2014 and continued to into the next year after the death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore.
It ultimately grew to a vast movement by the summer of 2020 that swept the highest echelons of America, from corporate leaders to Hollywood icons to powerful sports figures pledging support.
COMMENT: Please read the whole thing. It's one of the best pieces I've read on the subject. I have no idea why, but the media seems obsessed with political movements, but shows little interest in the results, especially the negative results, that these movements produce. Very often, the only people who benefit are the leaders. Indeed, it seems that the best way to get ahead fast is to start a political movement that catches on and brings in many oversized checks.
Minority children are the biggest losers from trendy, big-buck movements. No one seems to care about them. Kids don't vote and don't write checks. And that's the bottom line.

"The left needs two things to survive. It needs mediocrity, and it needs dependence. It nurtures mediocrity in the public schools and the universities. It nurtures dependence through its empire of government programs. A nation that embraces mediocrity and dependence betrays itself, and can only fade away, wondering all the time what might have been."
