SHE IS TRANSFORMED! – AOC HAS NEW IDENTITY – READ ALL ABOUT IT – OVERNIGHT:  Yes, what you're hearing in the streets is true.  AOC, alias Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, alias Little Evita from the Bronx, alias Squad Member #1, has discovered herself.  Just as Hispanics are leaving the Democratic Party in droves, AOC has discovered that, well, she's not just Hispanic.  She has other backgrounds to sell.  From Fox:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Saturday her connection to her "indigenous heritage" was awakened while protesting the Dakota Access pipeline with Native American tribes at Standing Rock Indian Reservation.

Responding to a comment on Instagram, Ocasio-Cortez said she wanted to connect more with the ancestral roots of the Taíno, an indigenous people group of the Caribbean, and that American Indian tribes welcomed her as family.

Yeah, the same way they welcomed Elizabeth Warren.

"One of the things that first started awakening and connecting me in a deep to my indigenous heritage was connecting to the Lakota Sioux at Standing Rock," Ocasio-Cortez says in the video.

"It really just clicked that this is nuts, like, the grace that they extended to say 'no, you are a relative,' was really formative for me. While we may not be and come from the same exact lineage, there is a commonality to that ancestry. And it's important for us to recognize that we were raised and we were told growing up that we were extinct, that Tainos don't exist, and it's really important for Puerto Ricans to understand that that narrative is being challenged right now."

Are you believing this stuff?

In addition to indigenous and Hispanic roots, Ocasio-Cortez, whose family emigrated to New York City from Puerto Rico, has over the years claimed to have Jewish, European and Black ancestry.

"As is the story of Puerto Rico, we are a people that are an amalgamation," she told a Queens synagogue in 2018. "We are no one thing. We are Black; we are indigenous; we are Spanish; we are European."

Ocasio-Cortez said at the Hannukah service that "a very, very long time ago, generations and generations ago, my family consisted of Sephardic Jews" who escaped forced conversions at the hands of Spanish Catholics in the 16th and 17th centuries. Ocasio-Cortez is also a Catholic, which she says has informed her environmental views.

Okay, add Jews and Catholics to her heritage.  We're checking on Buddhists.

In her Instagram stories Saturday, Ocasio-Cortez explained that Taíno culture has influenced modern American culture and language without being credited, an issue she claimed is linked to colonization. As an example, she pointed to the word "Juracan," the name of a Taíno deity of chaos and disorder, which formed the root of the word "hurricane."

COMMENT:  I have nothing to say.  But I'm now so inspired to take time out to study my Martian heritage.  We were one of the first families to land at Cape Canaveral.  My first words, which are on the plaque there, were, "I want to buy a condo."

Only in America.

SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT:

CAN IT BE?  I CERTAINLY HOPE SO – FROM COLLEGE FIX:  Employers have started to look at training on the job as a better measure of skills than a college degree, according to one career expert.  Ken Coleman, a career coach and podcaster with Ramsey Solutions, told The College Fix recently that he expects the number of job listings that require a college degree to continue to decline.  “On-the-job training is replacing the college diploma,” Coleman told The Fix through a spokesperson. “To put it simply, the ‘knowledge’ that comes with a degree isn’t relevant to the job.”  The Fix asked Coleman to explain why he believed degrees were becoming less relevant, a point he made during a recent episode of his show.  “62 percent of U.S. adults over the age of 25 do not have a bachelor’s degree,” Coleman said on his show. He said even he thought the number would be lower.  Read the whole thing.  The college degree has been obsolete for decades.  First, many colleges are glorified high schools.  Second, colleges and their faculties have become over-politicized, teaching stuff of no particular value to a grown-up.  Third, companies are often more disciplined, and when they teach they actually expect the student to learn.

GOP LEAD WIDENS – OVERNIGHT:  Republicans are increasing their lead in the generic Congressional ballot, at least according to one poll.  From Breitbart:

Republicans continue to lead Democrats and gain momentum on the generic congressional ballot in the latest Rasmussen Reports survey, after a slight dip last week following a recent school shooting in Texas and the gun rights battle.

As the Republicans look to retake control of Congress in the 2022 midterm elections only 158 days away, the most recent Rasmussen Reports survey showed the GOP expanded the lead by two points after a slight three-point dip from last week.

The Republicans expanded the party’s lead to an eight-point difference. Forty-eight percent said they would vote for the generic Republican candidate, while only 40 percent said the generic Democrat candidate if the election was held “today.”

The poll found that only four percent would choose a different candidate, while another eight percent said they were unsure.

The Republicans gained two points from last week when the survey showed the GOP with a 47 percent to 41 percent lead, what Rasmussen Reports said was the closest the two parties had been all year. Rasmussen Reports updates their generic congressional ballot every Friday.

Last week’s slight dip for Republicans occurred the same week a shooting occurred at an Elementary School in Texas, where Border Patrol agents moved in to stop the shooter. Since then, leftist organizations and lawmakers have tried to force the issue of gun control on the American people.

Rasmussen noted that in June 2018, before the Democrats took the House for the first time in eight years, they only had a four-point advantage on the generic congressional ballot. Additionally, June 2028 was slightly up from May 2018, when the Democrats only had a one-point advantage on the generic congressional ballot.

Plus, as the 2018 November midterm election neared, the margins between the Democrats and Republicans came extremely close — Republicans had 46 percent to 45 percent for Democrats.

However, in this poll, the Republican party has a heavy advantage (15 points) with independents over the Democrats. With the voters not affiliated with either major party, 43 percent said they would vote for the GOP candidate, while only 28 percent said they would vote for the Democrat candidate.

Additionally, 27 percent of black voters and 43 percent of other minority groups said they would vote for the Republican candidate if the election was held “today.”

COMMENT:  The most important part of this story is the dramatic gain for Republicans among minorities.  Minorities are a critical percentage of the Democratic base.  If the GOP can chip away part of that base, American politics could be changed forever.

Democrats seem incapable of ideological change, and it appears they'll go down like a sinking ship rather than alter their patronizing attitude toward minority groups.  The groups have begun to notice.

"The left needs two things to survive. It needs mediocrity, and it needs dependence. It nurtures mediocrity in the public schools and the universities. It nurtures dependence through its empire of government programs. A nation that embraces mediocrity and dependence betrays itself, and can only fade away, wondering all the time what might have been."
