MADNESS:  If you don't like a court's decision, abolish the court.  Incredible.  That's what we seem to be teaching our children.  From the New York Post:

A majority of Democrat voters believe the Supreme Court is a racist, sexist institution that ought to be abolished, according to a new poll commissioned by the Heartland Institute. And in a clear threat to the court’s future, almost as many young people aged 19 to 39 feel the same way.

The national survey of 1,025 US voters split strongly down party lines, with 53% of Democrats in favor of abolishing the current Supreme Court and replacing it with a “new, democratically elected . . . court with justices chosen by the American people directly,” and 33% “strongly” in favor. Just 21% of Republicans and 38% of independents favored the proposition.

A majority (54%) of young people aged 19 to 39 wanted the court abolished. Overall, just 37% of total voters agreed, according to the Rasmussen poll conducted on July 6 and 7, almost two weeks after the Supreme Court overturned the Roe v Wade decision on abortion.

While 67% of Democrats believe the court is a “fundamentally sexist institution that favors men over women,” just 18% of Republicans and 36% of independents agreed.

Overall, 41% of total voters agreed, with women (48%) holding a bleaker view of sexism in the court than men (41%).

On the question of race, 56% of Democrats believe the court is “a fundamentally racist institution” compared to 14% of Republicans, 29% of independents and 34% of total voters.
Fifty-four percent of black voters agreed, compared to 27% of white voters and 50% of Hispanics.

On the radical proposition of a constitutional amendment to give the United Nations the power to reverse Supreme Court decisions on decisions it believes violate human rights, fewer than half (47%) of Democrats were opposed, with 39% in favor with 11% undecided.

Among Republicans, 77% were opposed to UN oversight and 17% were in favor. Just 37% of total voters favored the idea, but young voters aged 19 to 39 were more positive, with 48% in favor, compared to 27% of those aged 40 to 64 and 9% of those aged over 64.
While a majority of total voters (52%) held a favorable view of the Supreme Court, fewer than half of women, young voters and black voters agreed.

COMMENT:  Read the whole thing.  What a depressing mess.  The poll is proof that our educational system is collapsing, and refuses to teach the importance of American institutions.   It also shows that our most severe problems of survival and democratic rule originate on the left, not on the right, although you'll never hear it on CNN.

This poll would have produced very different results 25 years ago.  But we've been too polite about letting the Marxists get into our institutions and take them over.  They are fanatical and consider politics a religion.  They see themselves as approaching victory for their dark beliefs.  And that may well prove correct.

GETTING LOWER THAN THE TITANIC:  Gallup tells the news industry exactly where it rates with the American people.  This is not a valentine.  From Newsbusters

The American people's trust in news outlets has hit a historic low, according to Gallup’s annual survey on confidence in major U.S. institutions. It's like they've discovered that "straight news" isn't their primary goal.

Both newspapers and television news have seen another drop in confidence over the past year, with each losing an average five percent of people who said they had a “great deal” of trust in such institutions. Gallup has been measuring "confidence in institutions" since 1973, and annually since 1993.

Television news is now considered the second least-trusted institution in America, after Congress, with just 11 percent of respondents telling Gallup they have “quite a lot” of trust in television news. Newspapers aren't much better at 16 percent.

On Twitter, Glenn Greenwald noted Democrats trust the media far more than the Republicans and independents because "everyone knows what side they're on."

One might think the Democrats would muster a majority to endorse the credibility of the liberal media. But they end up being hostile to the liberal media for not being liberal enough. Liberal Twitter spends a lot of time demanding TV hosts like Chuck Todd be fired for being too negative to the Democrats.

Remember these dismal credibility ratings when reporters try to suggest that someone else (even Biden) is in the polling dumpster. Reporters have a bad habit of skipping over their own approval ratings.

COMMENT:  The credibility problem in journalism didn't start yesterday.  There's really no clear "start date," but I do think many of the current problems began after President Kennedy's assassination in 1963.  The combination of the media's intense dislike for President Lyndon Johnson, the rebellious nature of the sixties, the contempt for the Vietnam war, the introduction of a new generation of college "educated" journalists, were part of the witches' brew.  The whole story is much more complicated, but you see where we are.

"The left needs two things to survive. It needs mediocrity, and it needs dependence. It nurtures mediocrity in the public schools and the universities. It nurtures dependence through its empire of government programs. A nation that embraces mediocrity and dependence betrays itself, and can only fade away, wondering all the time what might have been."
