WILL ANOTHER TREE FALL? Another Soros-financed district attorney is under the kind of challenge that can cost him his job. From Fox:
The group seeking to recall Los Angeles County's top prosecutor will turn in hundreds of thousands of signed petitions Wednesday following a months-long effort to let voters decide his political fate.
Volunteers and officials with the Recall George Gascon campaign plan to deliver more than 566,857 petitions in a large truck to the Los Angeles County Registrar of Voters in the Los Angeles suburb of Norwalk, the group said Tuesday.
"The sheer magnitude of this effort, and time and investment required to get to this point, show how strong the public desire is to remove George Gascon from office," a recall campaign statement said. "From day one, this recall has been led by the very victims who Gascon has abandoned, ignored, and dismissed. When the recall qualifies, he will not be able to ignore them any longer."
Wednesday marks the deadline for the group to turn in the collected signatures in order to have them counted and verified. The group must have collected signatures from 10% of registered voters across the county in order to trigger a recall election in November.
The recall group and Gascon's opponents have seized on the effort to paint him as soft on crime amid a crime wave and a series of missteps by his office in recent months.
In his defense, Gascon has characterized the effort as a political power grab that is attempting to "circumvent the democratic process."
In a fundraising message last week, he told his supporters that a successful recall could set his progressive agenda back.
"The Republican-led recall effort in L.A. is on the ‘cusp’ of qualifying for the ballot this November," he said. "And if they’re successful, they will reverse all our progress."
Much of the opposition against Los Angeles County’s top prosecutor stems from his progressive directives that critics have blamed for an uptick in crime and emboldening criminals they say no longer fear robust prosecution by the DA’s office.
That includes not seeking cash bail, sentencing enhancements or trying juvenile offenders as adults.
COMMENT: We hope this recall is successful. A revolt in San Francisco resulted in the removal from office of their Soros district attorney. If we can add Los Angeles to the list, our satisfaction will be great.
BULLETIN: CAPTURED: The "person of interest" wanted in connection with the shootings in Highland Park, Illinois, is in police custody. From Fox:
A person of interest connected to an attack where six people were gunned and many others were injured during a shooting at an Independence Day parade in Highland Park, a wealthy suburb of Chicago, has been captured following an hours-long manhunt.
Robert Crimo III, 22, was taken into police custody after a brief car chase, Highland Park Police Chief Lou Jogmen said. A North Chicago police officer spotted the vehicle authorities alerted earlier in the day they believed might be driven by Crimo while he was on the run, Jogmen said.
The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but Crimo fled before he was stopped in Lake Forest, Jogmen said. He was expected to be questioned about his alleged role in the mass shooting, the chief said.
Crimo is possibly linked to Monday's shooting that killed at least six people and wounded about two dozen more from a rooftop perch before fleeing, officials said. Five of those killed were found at the scene and were adults, authorities said. Another was taken to a hospital where they died.
A child was among those hurt and was critically injured, authorities said.
Gunfire broke out at the intersection of Central Avenue and 2nd Street in Highland Park around 10:24 a.m. CT Monday, according to authorities.
Lake County Sheriff's Office Deputy Chief Chris Covelli said the suspected used "a high-powered rifle" but declined to give a detailed description of the weapon. The attack began near the last leg of the parade route, he said, and targeted spectators along the sidelines.
COMMENT: Later reports claimed that the suspect is a Trump supporter. You may be certain that "fact" will be highlighted by the august members of the press. The story now moves into the world of politics, where deep and philosophical words will be spoken.
BULLETIN: SUSPECT NAMED: A person of interest has been named in connection with today's mass shooting in Highland Park, Illinois. From the New York Post:
A person of interest has been identified in Monday’s deadly mass shooting at a Fourth of July parade outside Chicago, authorities said.
Officials said he was 22-year-old Robert “Bobby” E. Crimo III and is believed to be driving a 2010 silver Honda Fit.
The gunman opened fire with a “high-powered rifle” while standing on a roof just minutes after the parade began in the tony suburb of Highland Park, where six people were left dead and 24 others injured.
The killer “was very military-style, methodical in the way he was crouched and shooting,” an attendee told WGN TV.
Investigators found a rifle at the scene that is believed to have been used in the massacre.
Jeff Leon, 57, told CNN the shots sounded like firecrackers and that he initially assumed the noise was part of the parade.
“The police started reacting, and I saw some people falling,” he said.
Chaotic footage showed frantic parade-goers — some of them bloodied — running for their lives as the gunfire exploded.
Leon said people began ducking behind cars to stay out of the line of fire.
Another witness told CNN that she hid in the basement of a sporting-goods store and saw several injured victims scurrying around the scene in a bloodied daze.
Blood pooled at Port Clinton Square in Highland Park, after a shooting at a July Fourth parade.
She said a desperate father put his child in a dumpster as a safety precaution before heading back out to search for other relatives.
Images from the scene showed baby strollers and blankets that had been abandoned amid the mayhem.
Police said cops ran toward the gunfire but that the shooter had ceased firing before they arrived.
COMMENT: This is a developing story. We know nothing about motive at this point. We do know that the alleged shooter was highly skilled, and fired from a rooftop position, sniper style. More coming.

It nurtures dependence through its empire of government programs.
