BULLETIN: CAPTURED: The "person of interest" wanted in connection with the shootings in Highland Park, Illinois, is in police custody. From Fox:
A person of interest connected to an attack where six people were gunned and many others were injured during a shooting at an Independence Day parade in Highland Park, a wealthy suburb of Chicago, has been captured following an hours-long manhunt.
Robert Crimo III, 22, was taken into police custody after a brief car chase, Highland Park Police Chief Lou Jogmen said. A North Chicago police officer spotted the vehicle authorities alerted earlier in the day they believed might be driven by Crimo while he was on the run, Jogmen said.
The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but Crimo fled before he was stopped in Lake Forest, Jogmen said. He was expected to be questioned about his alleged role in the mass shooting, the chief said.
Crimo is possibly linked to Monday's shooting that killed at least six people and wounded about two dozen more from a rooftop perch before fleeing, officials said. Five of those killed were found at the scene and were adults, authorities said. Another was taken to a hospital where they died.
A child was among those hurt and was critically injured, authorities said.
Gunfire broke out at the intersection of Central Avenue and 2nd Street in Highland Park around 10:24 a.m. CT Monday, according to authorities.
Lake County Sheriff's Office Deputy Chief Chris Covelli said the suspected used "a high-powered rifle" but declined to give a detailed description of the weapon. The attack began near the last leg of the parade route, he said, and targeted spectators along the sidelines.
COMMENT: Later reports claimed that the suspect is a Trump supporter. You may be certain that "fact" will be highlighted by the august members of the press. The story now moves into the world of politics, where deep and philosophical words will be spoken.
BULLETIN: SUSPECT NAMED: A person of interest has been named in connection with today's mass shooting in Highland Park, Illinois. From the New York Post:
A person of interest has been identified in Monday’s deadly mass shooting at a Fourth of July parade outside Chicago, authorities said.
Officials said he was 22-year-old Robert “Bobby” E. Crimo III and is believed to be driving a 2010 silver Honda Fit.
The gunman opened fire with a “high-powered rifle” while standing on a roof just minutes after the parade began in the tony suburb of Highland Park, where six people were left dead and 24 others injured.
The killer “was very military-style, methodical in the way he was crouched and shooting,” an attendee told WGN TV.
Investigators found a rifle at the scene that is believed to have been used in the massacre.
Jeff Leon, 57, told CNN the shots sounded like firecrackers and that he initially assumed the noise was part of the parade.
“The police started reacting, and I saw some people falling,” he said.
Chaotic footage showed frantic parade-goers — some of them bloodied — running for their lives as the gunfire exploded.
Leon said people began ducking behind cars to stay out of the line of fire.
Another witness told CNN that she hid in the basement of a sporting-goods store and saw several injured victims scurrying around the scene in a bloodied daze.
Blood pooled at Port Clinton Square in Highland Park, after a shooting at a July Fourth parade.
She said a desperate father put his child in a dumpster as a safety precaution before heading back out to search for other relatives.
Images from the scene showed baby strollers and blankets that had been abandoned amid the mayhem.
Police said cops ran toward the gunfire but that the shooter had ceased firing before they arrived.
COMMENT: This is a developing story. We know nothing about motive at this point. We do know that the alleged shooter was highly skilled, and fired from a rooftop position, sniper style. More coming.
COMBAT OVER ENERGY: The increasingly confrontational and ignorant comments by the White House over energy policy are getting a response, and it isn't favorable. Who will the Bidenistas blame next? From Fox:
The U.S. Oil & Gas Association took a hit at President Biden after he tweeted on Saturday that "companies running gas stations" should simply "bring down the price you are charging at the pump," telling him that he should "please make sure the WH intern who posted this tweet registers for Econ 101 for the fall semester."
"Working on it Mr. President. In the meantime - have a Happy 4th and please make sure the WH intern who posted this tweet registers for Econ 101 for the fall semester...," the tweeted.
On Sunday, Biden tweeted that "companies running gas stations" should take note that "this is a time of war and global peril."
"My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril," Biden tweeted on Saturday. "Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product. And do it now."
Biden's tweet comes as gas prices are averaging at $4.812 nationwide, which is up 5 cents from one month ago. In some states, however, prices are much higher.
In California, the average price per gallon of gas is $6.244 and in Illinois, it's $5.325.
Biden has attempted to deflect blame for the increase in gas prices to Russian President Vladimir Putin, dubbing it the "Putin's Price Hike," a term used repeatedly by the White House, despite his campaign promise to always take responsibility and not blame others.
The call for action from Biden follows a failed proposal from the Oval Office to implement a 90-day gas tax holiday, which was dismissed by even Democratic lawmakers as outlandish.
During the presidential campaign, Biden vowed to sacrifice the energy boom, low prices, and even jobs for the sake of his green agenda.
In the December 2019 Democratic debate, moderator Tim Alberta asked: "Three consecutive American presidents have enjoyed stints of explosive economic growth due to a boom in oil and natural gas production. As president, would you be willing to sacrifice some of that growth, even knowing potentially that it could displace thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of blue-collar workers in the interest of transitioning to that greener economy?"
"The answer is yes," the former vice president said.
COMMENT: And that's the problem. Biden has become a servant of extreme environmentalists. We need more oil pumped now. We need to be energy independent, as we were under President Trump. We need to stop bowing to every environmental demand. The world will not come to an end if we increase production. But if we continue with our current, adolescent-level policies, the United States as we know it will be reduced to the level of a gigantic has-been.

It nurtures dependence through its empire of government programs.
